Community Voices: Waguthu Residents Engage with KAWSCO
A Forum on Service Delivery and Partnership
On May 14, Karuri Water and Sanitation company (KAWSCO) hosted an engagement forum with Waguthu Scheme residents - a space where community voices were heard and solutions were discussed. The event demonstrated the power of open dialogue in solving water access challenges.

What Was Discussed
The Commercial Department Respresentative explained how to apply for connections, our billing system, and how customers can reach us via WhatsApp for faster support.

What Residents Said
Three main concerns emerged during the open forum:
🔴 New Connections
Members raised concerns about the long time taken to process new water connections which was due to a shortage of meters, which had caused new connections to stop.
🔴 Post-Road Construction Gaps
Residents raised concerns about poor communication and delayed repairs after water infrastructure was damaged during road construction works.
🔴 Thangunya Residents’ Pending Reconnection
Following a prior discussion with the residents, Thangunya Community requested a follow-up on their reconnection due to Construction

What Comes Next
The community made clear requests:
✓ Dedicated Meeting for Thangunya: Schedule a follow-up with Thangunya residents with clear timelines for reconnection work
✓ Regular Engagement Forums: Hold customer meetings regularly to keep communication flowing and transparent
✓ Faster Connection Process: Speed up new water connections and post-construction reconnections
